#Why Windows Phone cannot rebound ??

Windows Phone

The latest  Kantar Worldpanel  numbers for smartphone market share may not be surprising, but they are grim indeed for  Microsoft . In the heart of the Windows empire in the United States,  Windows Phone’s market share dropped from 4.7% to 3.6% between May 2013 and May 2014. In Germany, the decline was from 6.2% to 5.9%. In Brazil, the share remained flat at 5.5%. In China, Windows Phone saw a collapse from 3% to o.6%.  This may seem like just another spring, a season among others. But look closer — we are in fact witnessing the final hope for any meaningful future for Windows Phone being snuffed out.  First of all,  in 2013 Windows Phone did have some momentum in emerging markets and it desperately needed to maintain it. The platform’s share in Brazil grew from 4.2% to 5.5% between May 2012 and May 2013. In China, Windows Phone climbed to 3% thanks to some  enormous effort from Nokia , which has 20 years of history in Brazil and China along with distribution networks consisting of tens of thousands of points of sale, universal brand recognition and painstakingly filled reservoir of consumer goodwill.  All of that helped give Windows Phone 3% to 5% slice of the smartphone market. And now that pitiful toehold is already eroding, washed away by the flood of $100 Android smartphones. There is no coming back from this debacle. The prices of low-end Windows smartphones cannot catch up with Android models — to do so would have taken a rapid climb to at least a 20% share in emerging markets and associated economies of scale. That window of opportunity has now slammed shut.  In the U.S. and Germany, the two most important Western smartphone markets, cheapie Androids are also wounding Windows badly. But a far deeper injury comes from the inability of Windows handset vendors to exploit the one clear weakness of Apple: The lack of jumbo-display smartphones. Samsung turned phablets into a global craze more than two years ago and Windows had a chance to attack Apple with a strong range of 5-to-6-inch models. It was unable to do so.  Windows Phone’s market share declines in the U.S. and Germany this spring may seem relatively slight, but they are in fact a deeply shocking symptom of the naked vulnerability of Microsoft in the handset arena.  This was the spring when Apple was genuinely weak. The new iPhones with large screens are rolling out in the autumn, leaving many consumers unwilling to buy the models with small displays. That’s why Android share in Germany moved from 77.9% to 80.9% over the past year. Apple is now possibly more vulnerable in the smartphone market than it has been since 2008, when it was still shackled by narrow distribution.  Yet the Windows camp has failed spectacularly to exploit this opening. Germans are nowhere near as fond of Apple as Americans or Brits. It has always been the most likely gateway to Windows Phone’s success in Europe. That year-over-year share decline in Germany from 6.2% to 5.9% is no boring piece of statistics. It is the death knell for the entire Windows Phone project.

##Amazon Fire Phone Be A Smartphone Game Changer

Amazon Fire Phone Be A Smartphone Game Changer

When rumors started swirling that Amazon planned to unveil its own smartphone, there was an Internet-wide groan, and collective eye-rolling. The consensus seemed to be that the smartphone market is already saturated, and we simply don’t need any more players in this arena. Well, Amazon did unveil its own smartphone— the Fire Phone —and it is the first device in a long time with the potential to disrupt the smartphone status quo.  The fact that we already have great smartphones to choose from is not, in and of itself, a reason for potential rivals to throw in the towel without even trying. We already had search engines when Google  Google came along. There were already cell phones when Apple  Apple introduced the original iPhone. It is possible to disrupt an established market if you have the right device, with the right experience, at the right time.  The Fire Phone hardware compares well on paper against rivals like the Apple iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S5, or Nokia  Nokia Lumia Icon, but it doesn’t surpass them or raise the bar in any major area. It has a processor and RAM roughly equivalent to the Galaxy S5. Its display size is larger than an iPhone 5s and smaller than a Nokia Lumia Icon, with the lowest pixel density of the bunch. Megapixels is a poor measure of camera quality, but the 13MP rear camera on the Fire Phone has less megapixels than either the Galaxy S5, or the Nokia Lumia Icon. At 5.64 ounces, the Fire Phone is actually a tad hefty for a flagship smartphone.  All of this begs the question: “What makes the Amazon Fire Phone a potential game changer?”  I’m glad you asked. The answer is the experience.  The look and feel of most smartphones today are virtually identical. They’re all slim rectangles of plastic and metal with a glass touchscreen display. They all have essentially the same features and capabilities. One platform’s app store may have more apps than another, or a specific app you want or need, but within reason they all basically have the same apps available. Different devices have specific features that are exclusive or unique, but for the most part the smartphone hardware itself has become commoditized.  What sets one smartphone apart from the next is the experience. How intuitive, and fluid is the operating system? How well does the underlying platform integrate with the apps, tools, and services you depend on or use most often? How does the smartphone hardware enable you to do the things you want to do more efficiently or conveniently than a competing device? These are areas where the Fire Phone has the potential to provide a unique experience, and leave competitors in the dust.  Amazon is one of the most respected brands in existence. Its customers may not be as rabidly loyal as Apple fans, but it has an established reputation for quality and customer service. Amazon is consistently ranked among the most valuable brands in the world, and in  a 2013 Harris Poll for brand reputation Amazon surpassed Apple to take the top spot among US consumers.  Amazon is also prepared to go head-to-head in most of the major categories. It already has its own mobile OS—a fork of the Android OS. It has its own app store, cloud storage, streaming video content, and streaming music service. Amazon Prime is an exceptional value, which unlocks access to movies, TV, and music content, as well as free two-day shipping on Amazon Prime merchandise, and Amazon is including one year of Amazon Prime with the Fire Phone.  The brand reputation and customer loyalty of Amazon, combined with the few features of the Fire Phone that are unique—Dynamic Perspective, Firefly, Mayday, and the Amazon Prime membership—make the Amazon smartphone a very compelling newcomer. If the device and the experience match the quality we’ve come to expect from Amazon, Apple, Google, and Microsoft  Microsoft may find themselves facing a worthy new competitor.  I am looking forward to receiving a review unit of the Amazon Fire Phone to get some in-depth, hands-on experience with the new smartphone. After I have had some time to immerse myself in the device, I will share additional thoughts here.   Amazon Fire Phone Gets Great Reception  Robert Passikoff  Contributor  Why Amazon May Not Be Concerned With The Fire Phone Actually Succeeding  Seth Porges  Contributor   Amazon Finally Announces Its Phone, Now Will Anyone Buy It?  Ryan Mac  Forbes Staff   Amazon's Fire Phone Is Your Willpower's Worst Nightmare  Jason Evangelho  Contributor

##best 5 Smartphone Security Tips. reviews

Did you ever give much thought to smartphone security? The smartphone is quickly eclipsed the PC for many common small business tasks that are carried out on the street, such as email, social networking, Web browsing, editing or creating documents need. First Screen Lock your phone If you leave your phone unattended for a while - or worse, if it is lost or stolen (more on that later) - You do not want to make it easy for a passerby to rifle through its contents. Put your phone will need a PIN code or password for access after a period of inactivity, is a relatively easy way to thwart this type of opportunistic unauthorized access. AVG survey shows that less than half of smartphone owners use this type of lock on their phones. Second Enable Remote Search, Lock and Wipe You can not see your phone? You can simply have misplaced it somewhere around the office, or they accidentally left from your last session. Then again, maybe someone stole it when you were not looking. Block with the ability to look from afar, and then wipe the phone could help you get it - in this situation, software - or a service. Barring that, you have the peace of mind that even though someone got his gloves on your phone, your data can still be protected. Third Back up or synchronize your data regularly We hope that you will never find you're missing a smartphone or output with a remote data transmission self-destruction, but if you do, you will want to be sure your phone data exists elsewhere. The same applies if the device is due to physical damage or other disturbance is prevented. Whatever the case, back up your data is critical. 4th Apply operating system updates From time to time your smartphone OS vendors, hardware vendors and mobile operators will make OS updates available for your device. Although these updates usually considered to provide new function x or y, which you may or may not be interested, they typically carry security-related improvements and promoted, so it's a good idea to apply updates regularly. 5th Turn on Bluetooth Discovery Mode People often leave a smartphone's Bluetooth discovery mode turned on at all times (sometimes it's on by default), but you should disable discovery, if you do not try to pair a device. Otherwise, your phone will continuously offer existence to other Bluetooth-enabled devices in the vicinity (although in Bluetooth's limited range of about 30 feet)., Which can result in an unauthorized connection to the phone
